Being an Alain Ducasse run operation, you can be assured of creative sauces and meals. The menu is a contemporary interpretation of French Classics. Weekday lunch offers a 3 course meal for 98 Euros, which features locally sourced fresh ingredients. Dinner starts at 185 Euros. For dessert, try the Fig tartlet with blackberry currant granit’e. Service is unhurried, which adds to the appeal due to the location. You want to take your time and enjoy the eye candy that surrounds you. Relax, enjoy. Be sure to make reservations. The earlier you reserve, the better your chance to get a window table. Often, reservations must be made 3 months in advance. Another tip is if you are staying at one of the high end hotels or have connections with their concierge, make the reservation through the concierge to increase your chance of a window seat. We were staying at the George V.  Even though we had recently arrived and had not yet made a reservation, the concierge was able to get a window table for us.

Daytime in full sunlight is one experience and night time from dusk onward sets a different feel for the City of Lights. If you have the time (and the $$$$), indulge yourself with both views. If you can choose only one sitting, go for the evening and if you time it right you can view the city in both sunlight and moonlight. The restaurant is open every day to accommodate the romantic while in Paris.

The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel and only planned to last 20 years. Thankfully, the citizens of Paris kept this treasure. If your budget does not allow you to indulge yourself at the Jules Verne restaurant, you can have a drink at the Champagne Bar on the 3rd floor. Selections by Alain Ducasse at the Champagne Bar start at 12 Euros and you still get the view!

CURIOSITY: When the Eiffel Tower was opened, the elevators were not quite ready yet.  So, government officials and the press took the stairs to the top, completing the ascension in an hour.

Alain Ducasse is quoted as saying the restaurant is “a place of dreams and memories.” We agree.
